For 2023, AVID is pleased to introduce the AVBIS-4P: a modular measurement package for preforms that incorporates the capabilities and simplicity of the AVBIS-M system into an automated preform measurement platform. The AVBIS-4P replaces the AVBIS3000P in the AVID product line; the system retains its predecessor’s flexibility and precision, while reducing cycle time via the integration of a cartesian work envelope and introducing capability such as a cavity number reading (OCR) and preform thickness.


The high-speed cartesian robot feeder selects preforms from the 144-cavity tray then returns the preform after tests are completed. When configured with multiple testing modules, the AVBIS-4P is able to perform simultaneous testing, a significant improvement on the previous generation system.


AVBIS-4P is designed for use by untrained users; preforms are loaded into the tray. The user selects the preform program from the part library, and indicates the number of preforms to be run. The operator can isolate any blocked-off or unused cavity in the mold that should not be tested. On screen pass/fail indicators allow operators to review data in real-time while preforms are measured.

Because of its speed and precision, the AVBIS-4P is ideal for manufacturers who seek to reduce downtime during line start-ups and new mold qualifications. Additionally, the consistent measurement technique of the AVBIS-4P allows customers to monitor, adjust and control production processes when data is sent to SPC software.
